Downloads
This page has free product downloads that can be helpful to any business or personal computer. Some of the programs are not a substitute for a full bodied program but can aid and further protect your system.
Clean it Up:
- CCleaner —
Over time your computer gets full of junk with old browser files, cashe files, cookies, etc. This program finds it all and zaps it. It tied into all of my browsers so I can clear them all at once.
Readers, etc.:
- Adobe Acrobat Reader —
You will find a lot of forms, product manuals, and reading material on the Web. There is good reason for this. Adobe's Acrobat Reader converts anything into highly legible copy. Reader is usually loaded on most new computers. If you don't have the program or need to update use this link.
- Foxit Reader —
Used for viewing PDF files. The program does not require installation so it launches very quickly. Also includes a "typewriter" that lets you edit any text in the PDF, not just in the form fields.
- WordWeb —
Not a reader but a utility that provides a dictionary and a thesaurus that work in any application on your computer. I was able to highlight a word in a PDF file on the web and receive the definition. A wonderful, handy little utility.
To Protect and Serve:
- AdAware by Lavasoft —
Ad-Aware SE is the latest version of antispyware solutions. With the all new Code Sequence Identification (CSI) technology that they developed, you will not only be protected from known content, but will also have advanced protection against many of their unknown variants.
- Ad-Aware SE Personal edition will comprehensively scan your memory, registry, hard, removable and optical drives for known Data-mining, aggressive advertising, Parasites, Scumware, selected Keyloggers, selected traditional Trojans, Dialers, Malware, Browser hijackers, and tracking components. It runs on Windows 98, 98SE, Win ME, Win NT 4, Win 2000, and Win XP Home/Professional.
- Spybot - Search and Destroy —
Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't install, if your browser crashes, or you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware.
- Even if you don't see anything, you may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging that is silently tracking your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile of you that will be sold to advertisement companies.
- CWShredder —
This program does one thing and does it well. THis tool will find and destroy the CoolWebSearch (CWS) browser hijacker on your system. CWS can redirect your browser to another Web site, can change your browser start or search page, and be a genuine nuisance.
- ZoneAlarm —
ZoneAlarm lets you block uninitiated and unwanted traffic, even while your PC is unattended or while you're not using your connection. You can also limit your exposure to attack by specifying which applications can access the Internet. The program also lets you stop e-mail-borne Visual Basic Script worms. Zone Alarm's free firewall keeps watch over inbound and outbound Internet connections, helping avert malicious attacks by hackers and spyware. (Microsoft's firewall only monitors inbound traffic). This is the free version. There is a business version and a fully featured professional version as well.
